Every other night in our family, we sit down at the dinner table to share our thoughts, exciting things we did that day, and of course eat whatever mom has made. The nights we don’t eat at the actual table is probably because our favorite comedy show is on. I was talking to my mom last night talking about what are some things that I could about. She had a side thought and said “Don’t forget we will need to get the fancy dishware out for this weekend”, since my grandpa is coming to stay. Then we got back to talking about what we started off with. She mentioned blogging about eating dinner at the table with the family, a quality time. So good job Mom, you gave me my Thursday morning inspiration. 🙂
I am talking about this because a many years ago dinner time with family was a very important thing. You had to be at the table on time and you helped your mother make dinner. But now it’s just, “Oh my favorite TV shows on”. God made families for a reason, not just so you can rely on someone to wash your Sunday’s best clothes. Whenever Jesus sat down at the table for the last supper before he was crucified, he called everyone together. Even if you don’t have a table, maybe it can be just a picnic in the grass or a sandwich on a tailgate. Some of my best memories are just sitting on a blanket in the grass, laughing as peanut butter and jelly ran down my face after I squeezed my sandwich to hard. 🙂
Take advantage of the time you have with your family and friends. If you are far from family or feel that you don’t have them, maybe go to a homeless shelter and make a friend there.
Today’s Verse: And He also went on to say to the one who had invited Him, “When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, otherwise they may also invite you in return and that will be your repayment. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” Luke 14:12-14
Thank you, have a good day/evening, and keep on walking with the Lord. 🙂
