I called today’s blog “The Devil of Moving” because we have recently moved and lets just say I’m still getting used to it.
We moved the day before Thanksgiving of 2017. Our destination was Anderson, Indiana. I didn’t like the thought of moving but there were more opportunities there for us than there would be back in Illinois (which is where we moved from). The hardest part was leaving school only half way through the year and watching all my friends and teachers line up to give me a hug and tell me goodbye. The first teacher I told was my English teacher, Mrs. Hendricks. This is what she said after, “I won’t believe it till I see it.” Before we moved, my grandma lived 5 minutes away. Now she lives 3 hours away. As I would get emails from my friends saying “you’re to far away!” or “I wish you were still here!”, the only thing I could say was “Well at least I’m not (days) away.”
I have made a few friends here in Indy but I would consider them “not confirmed yet”. We have found a dance academy for me to keep my dance abilities up. My dad found a local Lutheran church near-by, and we are now official members of the church. And the greatest thing ever – Anderson University is 15 minutes away from our house. I know what you’re thinking “wow she must live in the heart of the city being close to a college.” But actually we are far out in the country. There seems to be a lot of woods and country in Anderson. But even better AU (Anderson University) has a dance degree. They just added it about 2 years ago. As I was looking at the AU dance degree part of the website, I found what they call a contemporary degree. Where you could have dance either be your major or minor and have another degree as the other. I know for sure I am going to do the contemporary degree with biology and dance as my degrees but don’t know which one to be as my minor and major yet.
But other than that, I think the hardest thing to do was “house shopping”. My dad moved often when he was younger but I did only when I was very small. So now it was difficult for me to wrap my head around what was happening. As we looked at about 15 different houses in about 5 different places in Indiana it was getting overwhelming. Eventually I just wanted to say “I just want to stay in the house near grandma!”
I know you guys know who BibleBloggerGirl is who has the blog of Teen, Meet God. Well she is the bestest friend I have ever met. She was always there keeping me calm and kept conversations going when I was frustrated about moving away. I also considered her my sister. So that’s why I would like to nominate Shae, aka BibleBloggerGirl, the Best Friend Blogger Award!!! Thank You Shae for being there for me always, you have been an inspiration and a blessing in my life 🙂
Thank You, have a great day/evening and keep on walking with the Lord God Almighty 🙂
